How to use emu oil and our products for different purposes.
Using and storing our emu oil products is very simple. Please read below for more information, particularly in relation to best use for the particular issue/s you are using our products for. This will help you get the most from your purchase.
All of our products are very happy if you keep them in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. You can refrigerate the oil, but it really isn't necessary unless you live somewhere with consistent extremely hot temperatures
Emu oil has a shelf life of up to 2 years and the expiry date is printed on all of our products. Keep in mind that emu oil is bacteriostatic, so it naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria and does not need artificial preservatives - yay!
Pure emu oil is very gentle, safe and has no reported side-effects, even on the most sensitive of skin. Although we only use natural ingredients in our products, you may wish to double check the ingredients for each individual product (listed on the product page) to make sure you are not allergic to anything. If in doubt please spot test our products on a small area before use, and always consult your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
Emu oil is made up of tiny particles and is fully transdermal. This makes it very effective for use as a topical carrier oil. Emu oil can easily be paired with other essential oils, gels, lotions or creams to enhance these ingredients and transport them deep within the skin. To do so, simply add an adequate amount of your product to a small amount of pure emu oil and rub into the skin until fully absorbed.
Shake bottle before use. Apply an adequate amount of oil to your hands; rub them together to warm the oil up. Gently massage the oil into stiff joints and muscles up to 3 times daily. It i to aid in the relief of arthritic symptoms such as swelling and stiffness in everything from your hands, feet, knees, elbows and hips. For best absorption the oil is best applied when you are slightly damp after a shower, but can be used any time.
Shake well before use. Pour an adequate amount of oil onto your palm, depending on the size of the area. Warm the oil up by rubbing your palms together. Gently rub the oil onto the affected area up to 3 times daily for the relief of skin issues and general wounds, rashes and inflammation.
Skin repair cream:
The skin repair cream is a great option for deep hydration, while healing and sealing the affected area with a thicker cream. Take an adequate amount of skin repair cream from the tub, gently rub the cream into the affected area up to 3 times daily for the relief of skin issues and general inflammation. Unlike the oil the skin repair cream will take longer to absorb as it is designed to give you a protective layer over the dry and damaged area.

Shake the oil well before use. Apply a very small amount of oil to the ends of your hair for frizziness and split ends as a leave-in treatment that will nourish the hair shaft.
Scalp
For a more intense treatment for scalp and hair health. Gently warm in a microwave or stove top an adequate amount of oil to a warm but not hot temperature and then liberally apply to your scalp and through the ends of your hair. You can cover your hair with cling-wrap or a shower cap and leave it for at least 20 mins to overnight. Please wash your hair as normal, making sure to deeply cleanse the hair of all the oil residue.
Shampoo for dandruff and scalp issues
Shake well before use. Wet hair, squeeze small amount on hands and gently massage into hair and scalp. Rinse well and repeat. Follow with your favourite conditioner. For scalp issues we recommend using alongside our OzWellness 100% Pure Emu Oil.

Unlike the oil the skin repair cream will take longer to absorb as it is designed to give you a protective layer over the dry and damaged area.
Tattoos:
Follow the instructions your tattoo artist has recommended for keeping your tattoo clean. Pat the tattoo dry using a clean cloth or paper towel. Shake well before use. Pour a small amount on to your fingertips, gently rubbing them together to warm the oil up slightly. Gently rub a small layer of emu oil over your whole tattoo. Repeat this process 2-3 times daily until your tattoo has completely healed. Emu oil is designed to lock in the colour of your tattoos and speed up the healing process.
Piercings:
After gently cleansing the piercing, Shake the oil well before use. Pour a very small amount onto the fingertips, rubbing them together to warm the oil up. Apply to the skin surrounding the piercing. Use 2-3 times daily until piercing is completely healed. Emu oil can be used on all areas of the body and all types of piercings, including mouth piercings.
Please shake the bottle before use. Apply an adequate amount of oil to your hands; rub them together to warm the oil up. Gently massage the oil into your belly, breast, hips and thigh area 1-2 times daily. The oil is best applied when you are slightly damp after a shower, but can be used any time.
Please shake the bottle before use. Apply a small amount of oil to your fingertips; gently rub them together with your thumb to warm the oil up. Gently massage the oil into and around your areola, nipple and breast area. The oil can be used after every breastfeed or as required. Before latching baby, just gently wipe your nipple area with a soft cloth to wipe off any excess oil.
Skin, joint and muscle issues
Shake well before use. Squeeze a small amount of oil onto your hands and rub together to heat the oil up. Then apply liberally to affected skin areas, joints and sore muscles massaging gently into the skin. Can be applied up to 3 times daily.
Minor skin issues and general skin and coat health
Shake well before use. you can add a few drops to your pets shampoo and wash as per the shampoo instructions. We still recommend spot testing the oil on your pet’s skin and waiting 24 hours for any reaction before applying it to a larger area.
General health maintenance
add ¼ teaspoon of oil per 10kg of body weight to your pets food once daily.
Inflammation of the joints & muscles, arthritis or stomach & digestive issues
Shake well before use. Add ¼ teaspoon of oil per 10kg of body weight to your pet’s food twice daily. Slowly build up to this amount over a few days to ensure there is no reaction. Give this higher dose for at least 5-7 days. Reduce the amount of oil based on the improvement of your pet’s symptoms.
Shake well before use. Squeeze a small amount of oil around the size of a 5-10 cent coin onto your hands and massage gently into your beard and skin underneath. Use enough to lightly cover the entire beard. The best time to apply the oil is after you shower or wash your face and have gently towel dried the area. Repeat this once or twice daily for best results.
